you need your own private podcast

PROBLEM:

I consume tons of written (PDFs) and audio content (particularly NotebookLM AI Podcasts About Complex Topics) that I want to systematically read and review. I want to listen to those files in a podcast player and I want to read those PDFs on my Kindle usually at night or first thing in the morning.

SOLUTION:

I built a simple system that turns a Google Drive folder into a universal inbox for all media types. Instead of manually uploading files to different apps or emailing myself documents, I drop any file...whether a PDF contract or an AI-generated audio summary....into one folder called "Consume Later". Behind the scenes, a Zapier automation acts as a traffic controller, routing the file to the correct device based on its format:

If it's Audio (MP3/M4A):

The system automatically processes the file, converts the link into a direct stream, and updates a private RSS feed. The episode instantly appears in my Apple Podcasts library, ready for listening alongside my regular shows.

If it's Text (PDF/EPUB):

The system grabs the file and emails it directly to my Kindle with a command to convert it. The document appears on my Kindle.

The Result: A daily workflow where I save a file once, and it automatically appears on the device best suited to consume it.

PLEASE NOTE: I'd rather have a hot red metal poker in my eye than help you troubleshoot your automations. You're a big boy/girl, you can figure this out yourself. I was a political science major for God's sake, and I can do it.

Jon
