You Need Dozens of These
What is a digital power tool, and why should I be using DOZENS of them in my business?
"Global Talent" has always been the main source of leverage for me.
(As a reminder, leverage means "small input, big output".)
One of our members calls Sagan a "Leverage Guild" because we are all obsessed with using global talent, but we also LOVE using other forms of leverage.
Here's a secret though...
"Code Leverage" (ie computers) isn't just for the tech bros anymore.
Think about it: one person writing code that automates work for hundreds?
That's REAL LEVERAGE BABY.
It's how trillions of dollars of software got built.
----
For me - it all started with DIY automations.
Zapier, Make, that kind of thing.
Drag and drop software building.
Now with the combined power of AI and stuff like Replit… we are building tons of "code leverage" every month.
-----
You'll notice I didn't say "software".
While this is definitely software… I have a reaction to that.
If I hear "Build CUSTOM software" I hold to my purse.
I'm about to get a bill that makes my eyes bleed.
That's why we are calling these things "Digital POWER TOOLS".
They are meant to augment human labor (Just like a power too....see what we did there?) and create higher quality lower cost productivity.
-----
Here are four specific Digital Power Tools I've written about before:
- Call Quality Control: Transcribe 5,000 calls a day, grade them, and send push notifications via Slack to managers if someone is really F'ing up
- Voice Note to Executive Assistant Clickup: I record a voice note, it is automatically summarized and added to my assistants Clickup board.
- Road Recap: A phone call in line (no login required) for field sales reps, that asks them custom questions, then sends a summary of their answer to their email because they are terrible at CRM.
- Matching Bill. com invoices to vendors in Service Titan: Needs to happen dozens of times a day, is currently done by hand.
--------
Are these full blown SaaS companies?
Nahhhh.
Are they crazy useful?
Yeaaaaaa.
These aren't just cool ideas - we're building dozens of these every month.
So why let us build these for you?
Three Reasons.
1) We already know our members companies.
Who they hire, their business models, their bottlenecks, their teams, their problems.
We get to skip the foreplay when building these digital power tools. The Pathfinder (and other things) let us rapidly help, not futz around for 30 days.
2) We’ve built a great team.
Dr. Matt Saponaro is joining as the Technical Leader of our new Knowledge and Automation Group (K.A.G.), alongside Brian Wilson, former Marine Corps Major, who will lead the group.
What sets Matt apart is his rare combination of technical depth and practical expertise - with a PhD in Computer Science focusing on AI.
However, the majority of the building is done by (you guessed it) amazing Global Talent but having Matt floating around if we need someone to go FULL WIZARD has been very useful.
3) COSTCO BABY, COSTCO.
I don't really want to make money on building digital power tools. What I really want is for our members to stay members FOREVER (and also sell more memberships).
What's that mean?
- Cost plus, like Costco
- No commitments.
- No retainers.
- No fixed fees.
We'll start building power tools for you for as low as $25 an hour.
If we need higher level talent, we'll let you know in advance (and again, just charge you cost plus).
I DONT WANT TO MAKE MONEY ON THIS.
Want us to build Road Recap (from above) for you?
My bet is like 150 bucks and then a penny every time you use it.
MAGICAL.
BUILD ME MORE MORE MORE.
Not using it?
Then just stop.... No commitment required.
-------
We're living in WILD times where we can build you exactly what you need without breaking the bank or getting locked into enterprise contracts that make you want to hurl.
Digital power tools (alongside global talent) are your secret weapon.
They're not some fancy Silicon Valley startup dream - they're the practical, everyday solutions that make your business COOK.
And that's what we're doing at Sagan.
We're here to build the exact digital power tools you need, when you need them, at a price that makes sense.
No fluff, no overhead, just results.
If you're tired of watching your team do the same tasks over and over (and over and over...), or if you've got processes that make you think "there's got to be a better way" - yeah, there probably is.
And it probably costs way less than you think.
Ready to put some power tools in your digital toolbelt?
TOMORROW WE RIDE.

Jon
