This Might Save Someone's Life
I think everyone should have a trauma kit in their car, and know how to use it. You aren't "healing" anyone, you are buying time to get to the next level of care (real doctors, or medics).
I've had to use it once when two people swan dived off a scooter with no helmets on and landed on their faces: This is mine, and what it is for - in order of importance:
1) Gloves - Don't get cooties from dealing with people's blood and fluids. Easy addition. Don't be a cool guy and get a color where you can't see blood.
2) Tourniquet (3X) - For major blood loss at arms and legs. That shit kills people quickly. I attach one to the outside, so you can do it with one arm if you need to do it to yourself.
3) QuickClot: Junctional bleeding - for places you can't get a tourniquet on. Hips and shoulders. Purchase separately.
4) Pressure Dressings: Direct pressure to a wounds all over.
5) Duct Tape: Bullets or small stuff. Purchase separately.
6) Sterile Plastic Bags: Burns
7) Nasopharyngeal Airway (NPA): Added this separately. Keeps airway open.... Purchase separately.
8) Needle Decompression Kit: Tension pneumothorax. Would only do this as an absolutely last resort.
9) Chest Seals: The kind you can burp.
10) Space Blanket: Stop blood loss related hypothermia.
11) Sharpie: So you can write on someones forehead what has been done, times, etc.
Random small stuff: Trauma Shears, Splint, Triangular Bandage, Elastic Bandage Dressings, Medical Tape, Antiseptic Wipes.
If you don’t know how to use this, google around for “TCCC Training”.
That will teach you.
What am I missing?
