How to scale beyond your best employee
Let's talk about your top employee.
The one who's got your back 24/7.
They're so good, you can't imagine life without them.
But how do you scale beyond your one-person show without everything falling apart?

Have your full-time, top talent hire their own assistant.
Let THEM choose who it is, no exceptions.
Have them delegate their most rote, low-level outputs to their new assistant
(Your right-hand person is still responsible for these outputs)
With their freed up time, give them new, higher-level things to work on.
This will go 1 of 2 ways.
Sometimes, they’ll pick a TERRIBLE hire…
And it becomes obvious they’re not a great leader, and lack the potential you’d thought.

They can still produce great work as an individual contributor…

Eventually, the newbie they’ve trained works their way up to doing every output your top employee was handling…
And your star team member’s now an operations manager, with 3-4 folks working under them.
Either way, you win.
