Here’s a few things I learned from the launch, as well as a snapshot of where we currently stand.

Launch Lessons

• Lesson 1: It was “easy” to launch our membership off the back of my high affinity audience. It’s been our only customer acquisition channel to date. All it took was writing, engaging, and trying to add value about global talent on Twitter, every day, for 3 years - ha!

  I jabbed for 3 years, before sending the hook (h/t Gary V).

• Lesson 2: How useful it is to have a cofounder (and team) that can work “up and down” an organization.

  I’ve talked about him before - but my partner Kayvon walked on to Stanford wresting team (my favorite fact about him) - before spending time at Goldman, Lazard, Deloitte, and launching his own holding company in the software/services space.

  In one moment, Kayvon can be fixing a Zapier automation… and in the next he is talking to some Middle Market PE Firm’s Lawyer about compliance best practices.

  Very very useful.

• Lesson 3: How much FUN I have competing. Business is the ultimate sport - and I’ve played sports my whole life.

  To see the rapid acceptance of what we are doing… the futile moves of our competitors… setting traps for them that they walk into… divine.

  We had an investor from one of our competitors become a member, with the line “Oh, I’m not working with them, you guys are way better”.

  Glorious.

  I have a competition in me.
